Position Summary

The Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM), Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine has an exciting Research Associate opportunity to announce. We are seeking a highly motivated applicant to conduct research in the Research Lab of Dr. Ruben Vidal.

The Research Associate will carry out numerous research duties in the laboratory, including IACUC and IBC protocols, instrument management, data collection, and coordination with other team members. This role will also carry out cellular, molecular biology and biochemistry experiments under the direction of the Principal Investigator in the laboratory for the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

The primary duties of this role will include:
• Basic Science Research Projects and Animal Research
• Cellular or molecular experiments
• Lab supply requisition and management of lab equipment
• Other Duties As Assigned

If you possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities this role might be for you!

Ability to work both independently as well as within a team environment.
Self-starter able to take direction, pay attention to the details and work under deadlines.
Strong background in neurosciences, biology of proteins involved in neurodegenerative diseases knowledge is strongly preferred
Strong knowledge and skills in cellular biology (such as mammalian cell line culture, primary cell isolation and culture, microfluid chamber studies)
Strong knowledge and skills in molecular biology (such as DNA or RNA extraction, PCR or RT-PCR, gene transfection, SDS-PAGE electrophoresis, western blotting, immunoprecipitation…)

Basic Qualifications

M.D or Ph.D. is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:
1-2 years of research associate or postdoc experience at biomedical laboratory and knowledge of basic cellular and molecular techniques.
