Position Summary

The Department of Tourism, Conventions & Event Management (TCEM) at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) invites applications for tenure-track at the level of Assistant Professor. As part of the School of Physical Education & Tourism Management, the TCEM department offers a four-year Bachelor of Science degree, six certificates, three minors and a Masters in Event Tourism from Indiana University. The department benefits from a unique location adjacent to numerous facilities and national organization headquarters providing opportunities for partnerships, research, and discovery in event, sport, and cultural tourism. Duties: 50% Research; 40% Teaching undergraduate/graduate classes; 10% Service to the department and school.

Basic Qualifications

Ph.D. in Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management or a related field.

1) An emerging or established record of research, scholarship, external grant and/or industry contract productivity in the areas of tourism and/or event management with a preferred emphasis in sport tourism.
2) A keen desire to work in the dynamic community of Indianapolis and ability to build community partnerships.
3) A demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to the institution’s populations, including but not limited to students and employees with disabilities and from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
