Position Summary

Two Postdoctoral Research Fellow positions are available in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Simon Cancer Center at Indiana University School of Medicine. The research will focus on understanding the structure-function of transcription termination factors in persistent RNA:DNA hybrid (R-loop) formation and resolution, DNA repair and carcinogenesis (PLoS Genetics, 2016; Nucleic Acids Research, 2014/2016), with the ultimate goal of preventing disease, advancing treatment, and increasing patient survival. Highly motivated PhD or MD/PhD are sought in molecular biology, cancer biology, cell biology, biochemistry.

Basic Qualifications

Experience in: (1) both molecular-cellular biology and development of transgenic mouse models and conditional mutant mouse models to study gene functions and mechanism(s) of action in cancer biology; (2) good communication skills; and (3) no more than one year of post-PhD experience. Protein chemistry skills are desirable, as is experience in: immunohistochemistry, cloning, transfection/infection of cells, PCR, and Southern/Northern/Western blotting, tissue culture, qPCR, mutational assays, FACS, live-cell imaging, and CRISPR-Cas9. Preference will be given to individuals who have first author publication(s) in high-tiered journals and have expertise in mouse handling (e.g., genotyping, colony maintenance, mouse irradiation, and tissue dissection).
