Position Summary

The School of Education invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Counselor Education to start January 2018. Candidates must have at least a master’s degree in school counseling, counselor education or a closely related field. The preferred candidate will have an earned doctorate in Counselor Education, School Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field; ABD candidates will also be considered.

Basic Qualifications

Minimum Qualification include:
• Earned Master’s degree, or higher in Counselor Education, School Counseling, Mental Health Counseling or closely related field
• Department of Education certification as school counselor (any state)
• At least 5 years’ experience working as a school counselor (any state)
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of best practices in school counseling
• Ability to teach a variety of courses in the counseling curriculum including supervision of field experiences
• Record of professional and service activities, which include working with P-12 schools
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of social justice issues that face educational leaders, P-12 students & their families

Preferred Qualifications
• Earned Doctorate in Counselor Education, School Counseling, Counseling Psychology or a closely related field
• Credentialed as a Nationally Certified Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor
• Record of excellence in teaching at the graduate level
• Experience in developing and delivering courses online, hybrid, face-to-face, intensive sessions, etc.
• Substantial practitioner experience in school counseling
• Demonstrated leadership skills
