Position Summary

The Department of Music and Arts Technology in the School of Engineering and Technology seeks highly qualified applicants for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor effective August 1, 2018.

The successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate music technology courses, support the integration of music technology and music therapy through an innovative research focus, and develop and coordinate a robust piano/keyboard laboratory program for majors and non-majors. Successful candidates will also work collaboratively with music technology and music therapy faculty to advance research relevant to the departmental mission. Preference will be given to candidates with a focus on education through music technology. Applicants must have a terminal degree (Ph.D. or equivalent).

The Department of Music and Arts Technology is uniquely situated in the School of Engineering and Technology on the urban campus of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). The department offers NASM accredited undergraduate and graduate degrees in music technology and a graduate degree in music therapy. The piano lab, renovated in 2016, is one of 3 instructional/research labs in the department. It has a networked video camera over the instructor’s keyboard that projects to two 90” monitors on the sides of the room. 16 Yamaha CLP-535B keyboards are Wi-Fi connected and provide multiple opportunities to integrate technology into student learning experiences.
