Position Summary

POST-DOCTORAL POSITION IN INNER EAR BIOLOGY
We are looking for a motivated and creative post-doctoral appointee to join our group at the Indiana School of Medicine. Our lab studies pathophysiology of the inner ear using a novel human stem cell-derived 3D inner ear organoid model in conjunction with genetic mouse models. We are interested in modeling hair cell and neuronal degeneration in these model system to determine cellular networks that lead to cell death and to establish molecules that can prevent degeneration.

Experimental approaches being used in the lab include CRISPR/Cas9, cell culture with live cell imaging, immunohistochemistry with confocal microscopy, Ca2+ imaging, RNA-seq, coimmunoprecipitation and proteomics. Our dynamic inner ear research group includes Eri Hashino, Ph.D. and Karl Koehler Ph.D. who pioneered 3D inner ear organoids.

Basic Qualifications

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in biomedical sciences. Previous research experience in human stem cell culture and proteomics is highly desirable, but not required. Salary is compatible with NIH pay schedule
