Position Summary

The Environmental Resilience Institute @ IU in association with the Department of Biology at Indiana University is seeking a Research Associate (RA) to help oversee lab and field research and other activities related to the IU Grand Challenge, Prepared for Environmental Change.

The RA will participate in monitoring migratory birds, lead efforts to breed wild birds in captivity for conservation purposes, study adaptive responses to environmental change, and monitor disease vectors. The RA will contribute to environmental research at the Kent Farm Research Station and other properties belonging to the IU Research and Teaching preserve. The RA will also occasionally participate in outreach activities, e.g. a bird camp with local school children and field trips involving classes at the university. A particular one-time task will be to oversee improvements to the research station and outdoor animal holding facilities. Another task will be to establish and help maintain an array of automated animal tracking towers (radio-telemetry). The technician will report to cluster leaders Ellen Ketterson and Keith Clay and to the Director of the Kent Farm Research Station, Adam Fudickar.

Basic Qualifications

B.S. in Biology or related field required, M.S. preferred. Ample field experience required, management experience preferred. Must be willing to travel around the state.
