Position Summary

The School of Sciences at Indiana University Kokomo is conducting a search for an Associate Professor of Mathematics who will also serve as the Chairperson of a new department. This is a full time, tenured, 10-month position at the Associate Professor level beginning August 1, 2018. Information about the School can be found at www.iuk.edu/sciences.

One of eight campuses of Indiana University, Indiana University Kokomo is a comprehensive non-residential campus located 50 miles north of Indianapolis in Kokomo, Indiana, a city with a population of approximately 55,000. Committed to student success, the campus serves approximately 3,100 students from a 14 county area in north central Indiana. IU Kokomo has approximately 260 full time faculty and staff. Basic Qualifications

Responsibilities include teaching mathematics courses (48% FTE), leadership of the program’s efforts to promote student success, assessment activities, faculty/staff hiring and supervision, budget management, scheduling of mathematics courses, management of the mathematics placement test, and other duties as required. This individual will also work with the Dean to establish the mathematics department. On-going research activities and an appropriate level of university/professional/community service are also required. Requirements include a Ph.D. in mathematics or in a closely related area and current tenure at a regionally-accredited four-year institution. Candidates must have an excellent record in teaching and research, excellent communication skills, and a leadership vision for the new department. Experience and record must be commensurate with the rank of Associate Professor at IU Kokomo. Preference will be given to individuals with leadership/administrative experience and/or a background in student success.
