Position Summary

The Demas Lab at Indiana University (www.indiana.edu/~demaslab) seeks to hire a postdoctoral fellow to elucidate the impact of maternal microbiome status on the development of offspring sociality, as well as the mechanisms underlying observed microbiome-brain-behavior relationships.

Specifically, we employ a model of antibiotic administration to rodents to test a novel mechanism by which gut microbiota contribute to the development of offspring sociality via a shared mother-offspring microbiome. This research is in collaboration with the laboratories of Cara Wellman and Jeff Alberts in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. The duration of the position is two years with the possibility of a third year.

Basic Qualifications

Ph.D. in a biology, animal behavior or neuroscience-related field and experience working with animal models is required.

Experience with microbiome analysis is preferred but not required. The successful candidate should have demonstrated skills relevant to the project and experience working on large projects.
