Title Faculty in Anatomy & Cell Biology
Specific Title
Appointment Type Tenure Track Faculty
Department IUSM - Anatomy & Cell Biology
Campus IU School of Medicine Indianapolis
Position Summary

The IU School of Medicine (IUSM) Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology (ACB) is seeking well-qualified and highly motivated applicants for multiple tenure-track faculty positions in skeletal biology, muscle physiology, or neuroscience. All academic ranks (Assistant to Full Professor) will be considered. Successful applicants must have a PhD and/or MD degree. The open faculty positions in ACB are a joint venture with departmental co-recruiting partners within the IUSM: the Indiana Center for Musculoskeletal Health (ICMH)—a newly implemented initiative for basic and clinical research, patient care, and education that focuses on the biology of bone, muscle, and cartilage; and the Stark Neuroscience Research Institute (SNRI), an established Institute that is leading the field in biomedical discovery for the causes of, and treatment for, neurological and mental disorders. Potential recruitments through the ACB/ICMH partnership should align with the areas of interest for the ICMH, which include: skeletal muscle biology, musculoskeletal imaging, and muscle–bone mechanical and endocrine interactions. Priority recruitments through the ACB/SNRI partnership will align with focus areas of SNRI’s, which include: neural injury and repair (TBI/SCI/stroke); neurodegeneration including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease; ALS and other motor neuron diseases; and/or neuroimmunology. The IUSM is committed to advancing outstanding musculoskeletal and neuroscience research in an integrated environment of basic science and clinical care. Faculty must be highly collaborative and eager to work in interdisciplinary teams across fields and participate in the entire research spectrum (basic science, translational, clinical). Opportunities exist for collaborations on translational research within the musculoskeletal and neurological disorders fields throughout Indianapolis, including the thriving neuromusculoskeletal biology research program at the Roudebush VA Hospital, as well as at IUSM centers around the state. The successful applicants will have opportunities to engage in medical and graduate teaching. Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis; start dates are flexible.
