The Division of Mechanical Engineering at IUPUC invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to start August 1, 2018. The position is a full-time, ten-month teaching assignment with additional responsibilities for conducting and publishing quality scholarly research, preferably involving undergraduate students, and participation in service activities at the campus.

IUPUC delivers the full undergraduate ME curriculum for the EAC of ABET accredited Purdue University BSME degree offered by the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). The Division of Mechanical Engineering at IUPUC is housed in the Cesar Pelli designed Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence.

IUPUC is a growing institution with high potential. The Columbus Learning Center incorporates resources from IUPUC, Ivy Tech Community College, and Purdue Polytechnic Institute to provide a focal point for community learning. This partnership is the result of a community initiative to expand postsecondary degree and professional development opportunities for the local workforce, resulting in a seamless continuation of educational opportunities for area residents.

Basic Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field by December 31, 2017. Must be able to teach a variety of courses in the curriculum tracks and be able to maintain an active program of research. Effective communication skills are required.

Additional Qualifications

PREFERENCES: Documented successful teaching experience at the postsecondary level is strongly preferred. Teaching and/or industrial practical experience is preferred in one or more of the following curriculum tracks: Advanced Dynamics (dynamic systems, instrumentation, controls, actuators, mechatronics, circuits); Core Areas (statics, dynamics, mechanics of deformable bodies, fluid mechanics, kinematics and design of machine elements); and Design (design methodology, innovation, IP, high volume manufacturing processes, business planning, rapid prototype development, economic analysis, project planning and leadership).
