Position Summary

A postdoc position is available in the fundamental neutron physics group at Indiana University. Members of this group (Chen-Yu Liu, Josh Long, and Mike Snow) are active in a broad set of experiments using low energy neutrons which address exciting questions in nuclear/particle/astrophysics/cosmology. Experiments in progress include, but are not limited to, two experiments (UCNtau, BL2) to measure the neutron lifetime, measurements (NSR) of slow neutron spin rotation to measure the neutron-nucleon weak interaction and to search for possible exotic neutron interactions, R&D work for the nEDM experiment which will search for the neutron electric dipole moment, and various tests of short-range gravity using neutron interferometry. The successful candidate would be able to contribute to one or more of these experimental efforts and would be expected to spend a significant fraction of their time at national labs such as NIST and LANL.

Initial appointments as a postdoctoral research associate will be for one year, with possible renewal for up to two additional years. The minimum requirement of this position is a PhD in Physics. A Ph.D. in any area of experimental physics involving precision measurement is fine, and experience in low temperature physics is a plus. We will review all applications until the position is filled. Basic Qualifications

A Ph.D. in experimental nuclear/particle physics is required.
