Position Summary

The English Department at Indiana University Northwest offers the position of Clinical Assistant Professor to teach courses in writing fiction, creative non-fiction, and professional writing. The position is full-time on a one-year renewable cycle, and requires teaching four courses per semester. At least one course per semester will be a first-year writing course.

The position’s primary focus is to teach courses in writing fiction, creative non-fiction, professional writing, and first-year writing. Moreover, the position holder will teach a course in screenwriting on occasion. In addition, the position will also involve ongoing work on developing the Creative and Professional Writing Programs.

While retention and promotion are not entirely dependent on the position holder’s published research, ongoing creative activities and engagement in publishing are required.

The position holder will engage in some departmental and campus-wide service activities, for instance, committee assignments and advising students.

Basic Qualifications

The position requires an MFA or PhD in Creative Writing or English, with demonstrated expertise and experience in teaching fiction, creative non-fiction, and professional writing, along with the ability to teach screenwriting.
