The Division of Education at IUPUC invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position to begin January 1, 2018, at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor in its Elementary Education program. IUPUC seeks a candidate with a strong background in special education. The candidate should also have a proven record for using, and supporting pre-service teachers with the development of, pedagogical approaches that promote social justice in the classroom. This is a ten-month appointment with opportunities for summer teaching.

General responsibilities include teaching nine credit hours during both the fall and spring semesters and division and campus service. The successful candidate will serve as the coordinator of the division’s special education program, taking the lead responsibility for programmatic assessment and preparing the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) Specialty Professional Association (SPA) report during each Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) cycle. Course reductions will be granted during academic years when significant program changes are being made and when CEC SPA reports are being prepared, as well as during the first year in the position in order to become acquainted with the program and the assessments used to evaluate it.

The Columbus Learning Center incorporates resources from IUPUC, Ivy Tech Community College, and Purdue Polytechnic to provide a focal point for community learning. IUPUC is located in Columbus, Indiana, and has a staff of 67 full-time faculty with excellent credentials and enrolls between 1,500 and 1,800 students annually. Basic Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS: We are seeking candidates with an earned doctorate in special education (ABD accepted) and/or who have been licensed special education teachers (with full-time K-8 special education experience) and have an earned doctorate in education (ABD accepted). Candidates should be able to teach methodology courses in special education and have a commitment to working with non-traditional students. Participation in service activities at the campus is required. A commitment to working with non-traditional students is essential to this position. Strong oral and written communication skills are a must. Successful teaching at the university level is very important.
