Position Summary

The Xindan Wang lab at Indiana University is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to use genetic, molecular, cytological and biochemical tools to study chromosome dynamics in Bacillus subtilis (https://biology.indiana.edu/about/faculty/wang-xindan.html).

The successful applicant will spend the majority of his/her time conducting, analyzing and recording routine cell and molecular biology experiments. Responsibilities also include some general lab maintenance, including (but not limited to) purchasing supplies, preparing media and solutions, coordinating disposal of waste, overseeing equipment maintenance and repair, organizing and maintaining strain and plasmid collections, and supervising undergraduates.

The initial appointment is for one year contingent upon satisfactory performance, and renewable on a yearly bases.

Basic Qualifications

B.S. in Biology or related field, and previous research experience in microbiology, genetics, biochemistry or cell biology required.

Overall, the successful applicant must be well organized, detail-oriented, possess strong analytical and interpersonal skills, and able to work effectively with minimal supervision as part of a research team.
