Position Summary

This position will assist the Principal Investigator in conducting genomics and neural epigenetics studies related to Alcohol use disorder (AUD) and Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) models at the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology. The Postdoc researcher will be involved in identifying and validating genomic and epigenetic contribution in alcoholism, and studying molecular mechanism(s) of epigenetic regulation in FASD. This research includes NGS data analysis, gene expression analysis, tissue dissection, and other molecular, cellular biology and biochemistry experiments.
Other general laboratory management duties include: maintain inventory and reagents, assist with the maintenance of regulatory monitoring and paperwork (IACUC, Biosafety, Laboratory Safety), set-up and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Basic Qualifications

Candidate must be highly motivated with a PhD degree in molecular biology, genetics or biochemistry from an accredited institution. Experience on molecular techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, qRT-PCR, immunocytochemistry required. Familiar with primer design and genomic database: UCSG genome browser, Ensembl. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently on projects, generate and analyze data, collaborate with team members, and write manuscripts.

Additional Qualifications

Experience with DNA methylation analysis, such bisulfite pyrosequencing and data analysis experience on high throughput sequencing is a plus. Background in neurobiology preferred. Ability to learn quickly. Experience in small animal handling and dissection preferred.
