The position is a joint faculty appointment in the departments of Neurology and Pediatrics.
The primary focus of this position is to serve as a neonatal neurocritical care consultant for our level IV neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Riley Hospital for Children. The NICU currently has 60 beds, all single rooms and is the only level IV NICU in the state that has an established neonatal neurocritical service line (NeuroNICU). The NeuroNICU was established in 2013 and serves about 180-200 new patients per year. The NICU offers whole body hypothermia, ECMO, cardiac critical care and continuous full-montage neuromonitoring. In addition, we have 4 neurosurgeons and a very close co-operation with the department of pediatric neuroradiology.

The optimal candidate has strong clinical skills practicing in a family-centered environment; willingness to teach trainees, including neonatology and neurology fellows, residents and students; and desires to contribute to scholarly work. Completion of a formal neonatal neurocritical care fellowship training, or being a BC/BE child neurologists with strong documented experience and interest in neonatal neurocritical care including neonatal EEG will be favorably considered.
Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health is Indiana’s largest and only free-standing children’s hospital. It is located on the primary campus of Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. The NICU currently houses 60 beds. In addition, pre-and postoperative neonates with congenital heart disease are located in the cardiovascular ICU (CVICU). The successful candidate will join a growing child neurology section of 13 faculty, 3 nurse practitioners, and a genetic counselor, as well as a neonatology section of 33 faculty and 50 neonatal nurse practitioners.
