Position Summary

One of eight campuses of Indiana University, Indiana University Kokomo is a comprehensive non-residential campus located 50 miles north of Indianapolis in Kokomo, Indiana, a city with a population of about 50,000. Committed to student success, the campus serves approximately 3,100 students from a 14-county area in north central Indiana. IU Kokomo has approximately 260 full-time faculty and staff. The Division of Allied Health Sciences invites applications for a Visiting Lecturer position beginning January 1, 2018. This position is a 10-month per year term.

The successful candidate will teach four undergraduate courses per semester, likely in the Nutrition or Exercise/Sport Science concentrations. This position is primarily designated as online instruction; the successful candidate will teach a minimum of two online courses each semester. Strong preference will be given to candidates qualified to teach online Nutrition courses. The candidate may be able to teach in the summer of 2018 for additional pay.

The successful candidate will maintain regular office hours, and will also engage in service to the campus and division including committee work, assessment of the degree, and participation in campus initiatives to increase retention and enrollment.

The Division of Allied Health Sciences is the newest unit at Indiana University Kokomo, now with more than 300 students and 10 resident faculty. One of five degree programs, the Bachelor of Health Sciences, offers students opportunities to pursue health-related careers. The degree has three concentrations: Exercise/Sport Science, Health Promotion, and Nutritional Science. The Division also offers minors in Nutritional Science, Coaching, and Sports Marketing/Management. Basic Qualifications

At minimum, candidates must hold a master’s degree in Health Sciences or related field. The preferred candidate will document previous effective online course teaching in the university setting in a health related field. PhD and ABD candidates are encouraged to apply.
