Position Summary

The Department of Tourism, Conventions & Event Mgmt. in the IU School of Physical Education & Tourism Management at IUPUI seeks applicants for a Lecturer position. This renewable, ten-month non-tenure teaching appointment begins August 1, 2017.

The person selected will: 1) teach 4 courses per semester (fall/spring), 2) promote and manage the portfolio of study abroad opportunities and manage student travel, 3) lead the course development and administration of the tourism geography and travel courses, 4) oversee the assessment of the student learning outcomes in the tourism geography course to ensure compliance with the IUPUI general education expectations, 5) mentor students and provide professional, university and community service.

Review of applications will begin June 15, 2017, and applications will be accepted until the position is filled. The target starting date for the position is August 1, 2017. Basic Qualifications

Applicants must have master’s degree in a tourism, geography or travel-related field and five years of industry experience and/or teaching in the field. The ideal candidate will work closely with students participating in IUPUI/TCEM study abroad programs and oversee the tourism geography and international travel courses.

Additional Qualifications

1. Experience executing online classes for adult learners.
2. Strong industry experience, preferably in tourism and travel.
3. Background in managing study abroad travel experiences.
4. Previous work in travel management and/or student development.
