Position Summary

Indiana University School of Medicine is conducting a search to fill the faculty position of Program Director for the Pathologists’ Assistant Program based in Indianapolis on the Indiana University School of Medicine campus. This is a full-time, clinical track, 12-month faculty appointment, commencing summer 2017. Facilities for teaching are modern and located in the main Indiana University Health Pathology Laboratory building in Indianapolis, IN. Salary and title are commensurate with education and experience.

Basic Qualifications

Qualifications
The program director must be a medical laboratory professional who:
a) is a graduate of a NAACLS accredited (AAPA prior to 1995) pathologists’ assistant educational program with an advanced degree (masters or doctoral), currently holds ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC certification as a Pathologists’ Assistant, or a board certified anatomic pathologist, or hold a doctoral degree in a basic medical science.
b) has practical knowledge of educational methods and current accreditation and certification procedures.
In addition to a strong knowledge of anatomic pathology, the ideal candidate will have strong clinical pathology knowledge to aid in teaching autopsy pathology.

Duties and Responsibilities
a) Be responsible for the organization, administration, instruction, evaluation, continuous quality improvement, curriculum planning and development, directing other program faculty/staff, and general effectiveness of the program;
b) provide evidence that he/she participates in the budget preparation process;
c) engage in a minimum of 45 hours of documented continuing professional development every 3 years;
d) be responsible for maintaining NAACLS accreditation for the program;
e) have regular and consistent contact with students, faculty and program personnel.
