Position Summary

CURRICULUM REFORM

• Direct the improvement and execution of an effective, streamlined MPA curriculum by working with a faculty committee and external stakeholders
• Explore the creation of shorter, specialized graduate credentials in high demand subfields
• Collaborate with the Director of Executive Education on graduate certificate and graduate degrees
• Collaborate with other units at IUPUI on joint educational programs
• Lead faculty in the development and administration of tools to measure student learning outcomes. Collect and synthesize results for use in program evaluation and improvement.
• Help organize capstones, including recruitment of potential clients
• Collaborate with the Director of Faculty and Academic Services to
o coordinate Public Affairs faculty teaching assignments, in consultation with the Executive Associate Dean,
o enhance enrollment strategies in Public Affairs courses,
o help recruit adjunct teaching faculty with strong experience as practitioners

REPRESENTATION AND COMMUNICATION

• Represent SPEA-IUPUI within the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration
• Represent SPEA on the IUPUI Campus Graduate Affairs Committee
• Coordinate with the leadership of the SPEA-IUB MPA Program
• Collaborate with the Director of Communications on messages to current and prospective students and alumni

STUDENT AFFAIRS
• Enhance student recruitment, retention and successful completion of public affairs programs in collaboration with the Director of Student Services
• Resolve student complaints concerning faculty pursuant to school and university policies
• Respond to student academic and personal misconduct issues pursuant to school and university policies
• Collaborate with Associate Director of Career Services to assist with professional development, internships, and placement opportunities for our current student population

TEACHING

• Teach three public affairs courses per year
• Serve as faculty mentor advising students on academic and professional development.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates must have at least an MPA, JD, MBA or related degree. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in the public or private sectors, some experience teaching public-affairs related material, a deep commitment to diversity, be highly organized, detail oriented, student-centered, and energized.
