in the Department of Cariology, Operative Dentistry and Dental Public Health

A full-time tenured/tenure track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level is available in the Department of Cariology, Operative Dentistry and Dental Public Health at the Indiana University School of Dentistry. Candidates with specialty training in operative dentistry or cariology are invited to apply.

The Department of Cariology, Operative Dentistry and Dental Public Health has had a strong evidence-based cariology and operative clinical education for many years. We are currently integrating our preventive and operative clinical management of caries within a unified team approach. The primary responsibility of this faculty will be to work with our operative and cariology division teams to develop robust competency-based didactic and clinical experiences.

Expectations of this position include participation in the development, implementation and continued oversight of the clinical rotations and courses. There will be a commitment to hands on didactic and clinical instruction in cariology and operative dentistry at the Pre-Doctoral and Graduate level.

The successful candidate also will have the responsibility to conduct research in the discipline and mentor graduate student research projects. Additional responsibilities include scholarly activity as well as engagement in university service at the department, school and university levels.

Basic Qualifications

The successful candidate should be eligible for tenure/tenure track at the rank of either assistant or associate professor at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. Minimum required credentials include a DDS or DMD from a CODA accredited program or equivalent. Current licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of Indiana is also required. Preference will be given to applicants who meet those requirements and have a combination of the following: formal advanced education credentials (MS, MSD or PhD); credentials in either preventive dentistry, operative dentistry, public health, or a related field; three to five years of experience in teaching within all areas noted for this position; certification by the American Board of Operative Dentistry.
