Position Summary

The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music seeks candidates for a tenure track Assistant Professor in the Department of Audio Engineering and Sound Production. The candidate will join a faculty of industry veterans in delivering an innovative curriculum based upon experiential learning and individual creativity that advances the mission of the Jacobs School of Music. The successful candidate will have a strong record of accomplishment as a technical and recording engineer working in contemporary audio production.
Teach two to three in-person or online undergraduate courses per semester in audio electronics, studio recording, and digital audio workstation techniques; maintain an active schedule of research/creative work, involvement in professional organizations, and develop music industry professional connections. Participation in student advising, school and departmental committees, and student recruitment is expected.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor degree in audio production or related field is required, advanced degree preferred; equivalent professional experience will be given equal consideration. Demonstrated expertise in analog and digital electronics, audio equipment design and repair, studio maintenance, modern studio recording, and an expert-level knowledge of Pro Tools. Five years of current and significant experience in technical and studio work, and a record of engagement with industry professionals and professional organizations. Successful experience teaching and developing in-person and online courses in a university environment.

Salary and Rank Commensurate with qualifications and experience. The committee will consider both junior and senior applicants and may recommend appointment at the level of assistant, associate, or full professor.
