Job Description

Indiana University East, Richmond, IN, invites applications for a Lecturer or tenure-track Assistant Professor for the School of Nursing, with a specialty in medical-surgical nursing, population health/community health nursing, and/or RN to BSN education, commencing August 1, 2017. Those with significant experience and matriculation in a doctoral program will be considered tenure-convertible position. Eligibility for licensure in Indiana is required. The environment offers the rich networking resources of Indiana University as well as advantages of a small, but growing, campus. Candidates for all full-time faculty positions must demonstrate a strong desire to excel in teaching and provide ongoing support for student success, in and out of the classroom with a diverse student and faculty community. Online delivery of programs is an increasingly important aspect of IU East enrollment strategy. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

Teaching and service in the community. Tenure-track employees expected to maintain an active program of research and scholarship.

Opportunity exists to teach in the BSN, RN to BSN mobility option, and MSN programs.

Communicate subject matter clearly, correctly and effectively. Use methods, materials, and technology appropriate to the subject matter.

Manage the learning environment through keeping accurate records, submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing school and campus academic policies. Collect assessment data.

Demonstrate the ability to develop a professional rapport with diverse populations within the university and community.

Maintain consistent instructor presence in classroom spaces.

Basic Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Tenure-track position requires an earned doctorate in Nursing or related field.
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing, or significant progress in a MSN program, is required for the Lecturer position.
  • Significant experience and matriculation in a doctoral program considered for a tenure-convertible position.
  • Eligibility for licensure in Indiana required.
  • Three (3) years of practice as a registered nurse required.
  • Broad background in nursing practice and certification as Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) preferred.
